uneedav8 Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 If you want too spemd money on a good NIC card get the Intel Server card its like $109.00 and totally stable unlike that hunk of overpriced .! Do you guys think it would serve a desktop any benefit using a nice intel server NIC ? For a single port server NIC.......are you paying for the built in encryption and the driver/software that is included?
Brother Esau Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Well for me I am interested indepth in Networking and those things. Its not practical for me too have a $2000.00 Cisco Firewall either but I have one! Here get this and save yourself $150.00 and I guarantee it will perform better...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16833106114 Me I dont need encryption on a card thats what my firewall/VPN does but I do have a gigabit switch which uses jumbo frame
ReelFiles Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Even that card is overkill for any of "our" needs. I have old PCI NICs from the early 90's that work fine, there's no need to spend that much on a NIC.
Brother Esau Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Yea but he seems as though he's hell bent on spending $250.00 on a gimmick that has issues! The card I linked is very expensive for a NIC Card but the quality and speed is their and for $135.00 less
RubberDuck Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Heck I use a Linksys EG1032. Works great and you don't have to take a loan out to buy it. I thank I got it for $20 iirc.
