tameone Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I'm looking for some relatively quiet, high CFM 120V AC, 120mm 'case' fans for a side project that runs on 120v ac from walloutlet, which needs cooling. Somewhere on the order of 100CFM and below 40dB would be awesome. If you have any sources, please let me know! thanks
ReelFiles Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 You could use a transformer to drop the voltage to 12v for a 120mm fan, 120v is overkill for a fan that small, imo. Radioshack should have the parts you need, otherwise I would recommend buying a small desktop fan and modding it to your needs. Spyvie Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Grainger has a large selection of fans and blowers, they also have transformers  You could also try Johnstone Supply
tameone Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 yes I thought about purchasing a transformer.. I could get an inexpensive 120v to 12v adapter from walmart, but that's just another components that I would have to wire and find a location and mount for, as I don't want two power cords. Spyvie Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 You do know that you can't control the speed of an AC motor without a really expensive controller?
ReelFiles Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I would just get a 12v DC fan, unless your application really calls for it.
