pffffft Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 After flashing the bios I am only able to get a post after resetting the cmos. If I make any changes to the bios and save/exit it will no longer post. I have tried the various instructions on procedures for updating bios/ clearing cmos but have made no progress. I checked the battery voltage and it is fine. The only way to get a post is to: powerdown mb, set jumper to clear, power on/ power off set jumper to normal On boot I get a checksum error and it says to adjust the cpu frequency. Thanks for any ideas.
albumleaf Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I had that issue with 8/24, how much voltage are you giving your memory?
pffffft Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I'm just using the defaults, I'm showing: CPU core: 1.51v chip set: 1.6v AGP slot: 1.51v DRAM: 2.52v
Angry_Games Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 turn your LDT multiplier to 3x and then see if you are able to reboot (i've seen this problem before where the HTT speeds are too high...turning down the LDT multiplier will result in a correct boot situation)
pffffft Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Thank you for replying. I tried it and no change. I tried 3x, 1x, made no difference.
pffffft Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Ok, I think this is a memory settings issue. I put a different stick in and am able to post and save the bios. I am guessing that I need to set the bios properly for this memory. I've tried loading fail-safe and optimized settings with no success. On the optimized settings I get garbage on the screen but no post.
learners permit Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Get it stable and flash to the 5/04 bios. The 6/23 isn't the best for your core.
