Hyper Threading

I was just wondering if hyper threading is as great as they make it seems. I was also wondering if i get a new main bord and a new cpu that has HT, could i really tell the difference from what i have now. If someon has tried P4 HT then can you tell me bout your experiance. Thanx

 

Ohh and if you guyz could...can you explain how HT works

I don't know I was sick of my 1.3 p4 400fsb. So I got my new comp in my sig. I don't know if HT is making the machine faster, or 800fsb and 2.8c, but regardless its a lot faster than my old machine. Here is an explaination of HT.

Chances are you would notice a change in benchmarking but not in gameing.

if you go to Tom's Hardware then you can see that HT makes ur processor go faster. a p4 2.8 w/ HT will go faster than a p4 3.06 w/o HT. like Sainou-Kun siad

yes and no. HT is just like SMP except it puts both cores on one cpu. ain't gonna do squat in most apps cuz they don't support SMP (therefore no HT either)... on the other hand if your app supports SMP you'll get a boost out of it.
