charlie22911 Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 ok, didnt work, hard locked my computer, same as when i tried doing it with CBID. anything else i can try? Guest Tmod Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Were you in 8 bit mode? Did you highlight the 13 in the DATA box on the lower left side? Then click on edit and change it to 03? Tmod
charlie22911 Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 nope, i did the middle box in 8-bit mode (silly me), going to try that now. EDIT OF DEATH: here is what i do: double click "13", change the 1 to a 0 and click set. little box pops up saying "data was changed!! did it register?" or something other, options are "yes, no and cancel". no and cancel both divert back to the main WP window with no change, if i hit yes i hear a high piched wine for half a second then a hard lock. that was the steps i took. hope that dont mean it cant be done... Guest Tmod Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Ok forget it I am losing my mind. Here we go again I had to do it on mine so I could remember. Have it in 8 bit mode. Click on Hex 85 the "13" Now hit the edit button Now at the bottom of the screen click on the "1" And change it to "0" Now click "set" in the lower right hand corner. Sorry about that Tmod

Guest Tmod Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 that was the steps i took. hope that dont mean it cant be done... Doesn't mean it can't be done, just a little harder to find a way to make it work without locking up. My understanding is that it is a problem with XP and not the system itself when using Wpcredit. Do you have a bios backup? I mean the chip not the file. Tmod
charlie22911 Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 is there a way to do it in DOS? i could make a dos boot disk and do some tweaking in that if need be. been a LoOng time since i used DOS though... EDIT: nope, dont have a backup. if i was to flash all but the bootblock i could recover from a floppy right?

Well not really, I normally make a ISA rom file and place that in the bios and sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. Guest Tmod Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 nope, dont have a backup. if i was to flash all but the bootblock i could recover from a floppy right? Not always, Sometime it works and other times it doesn't. Hmmm don't really want to take a chance testing this without someone with a backup. charlie22911 Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 hence the need for a backup, which i dont have. im taking my 'puter to a friends house, if they by chance have a 4-mbit flash chip to spare then im more than willing to give a modded bios a try!
