Question about Optical Drives and IDE connections

I have two optical disk drives (a DVD-Burner and a CD-Burner).

Am I supposed to use just one IED ribbon connector or both IED ribbon connectors to connect the drives to my MoBo?

 

Do I have to set one of the IED drives as a slave and one as a master?

Either use one cable with master and slave jumpers set or use two cables with both masters . One cable much preffered method.

A single IED cable isn't long enough so I'm just gonna to have to use both connectors...

I have another stupid n00b question;

 

Do I plug the blue end of the IED ribbon cable into the MoBo or the black end?

 

It's the blue end right?

I think you have that reversed; should be:

 

Blue (end) = System

Grey (middle) = Slave

Black (end) = Master

Damn it I just rearranged my disk drives lol...I was thinking that was the correct order.

This just fixed my MASTER_EXCEPT_ERROR Bluescreen when accessing my DVDROM!!!
