Ballistix Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 I have two optical disk drives (a DVD-Burner and a CD-Burner). Am I supposed to use just one IED ribbon connector or both IED ribbon connectors to connect the drives to my MoBo? Do I have to set one of the IED drives as a slave and one as a master? Thanks. lowboy Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Either use one cable with master and slave jumpers set or use two cables with both masters . One cable much preffered method.

A single IED cable isn't long enough so I'm just gonna to have to use both connectors...
Ballistix Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 I have another stupid n00b question; Do I plug the blue end of the IED ribbon cable into the MoBo or the black end? It's the blue end right?

h0db Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 middle plug is master, end of cable is slave , for ata100 cable. I think you have that reversed; should be: Blue (end) = System Grey (middle) = Slave Black (end) = Master
