backistani Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Hello @ll! Since today i know that my ram (Corsair TWINX4400C25 with 550 Mhz) is incompatible with my mainboard or maybe with linux. When i wanna install linux gentoo 2005.1 and wanna make the bootstrap i get some error messages. Today i tryed it with a noname ram from a friend and it works without problems. On windows my computer crashed sometimes with the corsair ram. Now i can send back the ram to the seller and can get another. BUT WICH RAM CAN I USE??? I wanna have a ram with 500 or better 550 mhz fsb. So it must be good for overclocking. I need about 2 GB for my board. So i need for example 4x512 MB or better 2x1024MB. Which kind of ram is good working with this board and for overclocking??? Please give me some help and tips. Thanks alot ! best wishes from germany Andre

backistani Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I dont need the ram only for playing games. The mostful things what i do with my computer is working with big graphics in gimp, corel draw and some cutting software. Then i make video encoding and decoding, making video dvd from my home videos. Therefor i need a very fast and big ram. The fastest ram what i can get is ??? It must work without problems on my dfi board with linux...
newguy Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Still the same pick. The mostful things what i do with my computer is working with big graphics in gimp, corel draw and some cutting software. Then i make video encoding and decoding, making video dvd from my home videos. For this kind of job you definitely need 2GB I tell you. There might be other options like Corsair out in the market but heard that they are not working very well with DFI. You know DFI is very picky.
