Hi!

Iam building my new system right now, and found out i got at big problem!

My gfxcard dosent fit in the top pci-e port because of the chipset cooler beeing in its way :( (well i think the graphics card is to blame)

So the question is:

Do it matter which PCI-E port i put my card in? Iam thinking speed here :)

Do i need to replace the gfxcard, or do any of you have an clever idea?

thanks!

well... i believe you can set the pci-e ports to 8x/8x, and jus stick it in the lower slot... its half the bandwidth of 16x, but there really shouldnt be any performance degration... its like changing agp 8x to 4x, same thing basically.

I have heard put teh SLi blocks in SLI mode and put it in the bottom slot.

Good luck :).

evogre3n, actually, nope.

The slots are NOT in fact 8x/8x all the time.

I read somewhere they are 16x/2x or something like that, but I'm pretty sure that the bottom one is 2x unless the SLi jumper block is set to SLi.

Okai, i will try 8x/8x and bottom slot.

Anybody knows what the performance drop would be :( ?

iam missing a crying smiley...

EDIT: It just came to my attention that running 2 cards in sli at 8x/8x and having a huge performance drop on that account would not be such a great thing, so i figure that the performance drop is minimal/not exsisting :D ?
