Once you start registering points, you move up the list pretty quickly.

I tried it on both 2.3.1 and 3.00 beta 18, works on both.

Just tried this today on my MSI R6950 2gb TF3 and it works fine.

Actually, the miners are the one thing that really annoy me. Driving the prices up sky high. I'm going to see if it's possible to get past 900mhz on this card.

This is all very eye-opening for me, nvidia cards were superior for F@H at the time I bought the HD6950. I understood the advantage was based on the software but, presumed it would stay that way. With that being said, are there any tips to improve production on my current card? I'm running Catalyst 13.8 right now. My GPU clock is currently set at 900, the highest allowed by the driver control panel. I'm willing to clock higher, provided it isn't a total faff.

Cards have changed that much, eh? Back when I got the HD6950, nvidia cards were superior at F@H.

Trying to revive a ten-year old PC isn't worth it. Find one at a thrift store that will fit his needs.

Have you tried removing/reseating components to see what affect that has? Have you confirmed the PSU is good? Often times, it is the simplest thing you overlook at the root of the problem.

Some time until you get as high as me.

Right now, I have an MSI HD6950 TwinFrozr PE OC basically, the best of the HD6950s offered at the time. The rub is not gaming performance, it's performing just fine for my needs. However, the F@H performance is seriously lacking, newer cards are easily out-performing this card two or three times.
I'm not buying right now, my projected budget will be around $300-$400. I think this puts me in the R9 280x/7970 or GTX 770 cards. My goal is to ultimately get the best card for F@H for the money.

We are at the bleeding edge of overclocking. Never before have people discussed overclocking a potato camera.

Good review. I'm still not blown away by these new coolers on the market. My Venomous X is still a very competent cooler and is almost silent, with the right fan. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to someone who needed a great cooler and fan in one package. I spent hours researching to find the right fan for mine.

Have a look at the Antec P280 and the Fractal Design range of cases. No stupid bulges or anything that looks "gamer."

I think the new FX-8xxx chips are pretty strong, holding their own against the juggernaut that is the i5. Heat output (140w) is much higher than Intel, so make sure the cooling is pretty beefy. Make sure the PSU is up-to-task, no cheap China crap.
-
Really depends on a bunch of factors such as heat and voltage, quality of power. Number one thing is heat; your CPU may not last long if you regularly exercise thermal limits (around 90c-100c) frequently.

The 9800gtx will perform much better at folding, it seems to prefer nvidia cards. Just run that as the sole card.
I think this is old info.
AMD cards are extermely opotimized now.
I have a 7770 running core 17 WU bringing in ~20k PPD
BTW, look at the "OCC Teams" sub forum for a thread about YOU by ME, lol
With cards of that generation, ATI cards are severely limited in terms of what they can do folding. I agree with you on the 7xxx cards, though. With an HD4870, you may get 2,000 PPD. I think the 9800GTX will do more than that.
-
I took a bit of a hiatus from folding during the warmer months. I had my portable A/C running almost 24/7 and the bill was getting high. I need the extra heat now, so folding proceeds at full steam! On a sidenote, holy shitballs, I passed 15m!

My Denon AVR-1910 takes care of everything, it has a second zone for 2.0 and enough HDMI connectors for the PC. Generally, I use 2.0/2.1 for music or any time I want to sit at the PC. Other times when I want to game on the television, I use the HDMI to the receiver. I am able to use the 10" subwoofer from the PC, via the use of an adapter.

Good idea, but what is vibrating so much it causes your case to rattle? Subwoofer?
Specifically, there is a resonance between the side panels, the frequency varies quite a bit. My guess would be there is some problem in how the P280 was made. Tolerances aren't quite right.
-
Just recently, I noticed some rattles/buzzing on the P280. Naturally, I seek out a solution. One trip to the hardware store later, I come home with this foam tape stuff, it's not expensive at all. The function is to stop contact between surfaces that vibrate. To my delight, it fits inside the locking edge of the side panel, where the vibration occurs. Once the side panel is screwed down, the foam compresses. Presumably, you could put this stuff anywhere between vibrating panels.
This is the product:

I'm really pleased with the result. Cheap fixes are always great.

Could be a heat build-up or fan issue. First, try removing the unit and blowing out all the dust you can.

Seasonic is really the top manufacturer of power supplies. Go with them, if you can.

I will typically run just my CPU otherwise, it will become unbearably hot where the PC is. With the GPU going on really cold days, it easily replaces a 1500w heater. I think it evens out, actually. Where most people run a 1500w heater, my GPU provides an even ~200w of heat.
