road-runner Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 What do I need to know to install Ubuntu 64 along side XP? Will it do like with win98/XP when you restart you have the option of which to boot from or do I need parttion magic and boot loader? Will Ubuntu 64 have all the drivers I need? silkster Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 (edited) Here's a good place to get started. And to answer your question, Ubuntu will detect XP and add it to the GRUB (or LILO) boot loader. Ubuntu usually has a great hardware detection rate out of the box. Most likely you would just have to install the official drivers for your graphics card to have 3d acceleration (Hello Beryl!!) Make sure you have a separate partition for Ubuntu if you plan to install it next to XP (resize it with partition magic) on the same HDD.
