  1. Nope, but during the swine flu craze, I came down with the flu. It was horrible. After a few days, I was back to my normal self, but then all of a sudden I get hit a second time with the flu the following week. Got test both times for the swine flu seeing as it was mandatory at the time. Got better by the end of the week. Haven't had the flu since.
  2. I'm still on Vista. I see not reason to upgrade as I am happy with Vista.
  3. Fallout 3 New Vegas with added Mods: Project Nevada and A World of Pain
  4. This is the greatest joke ever by Microsoft. The Nokia Lumia 900 is a piece of junk. It's sales have been horrible. It's currently being sold at ATT for $49.99 with a two-year contract. Sales of that phone have been slow. The Telegraph
  5. @Ekim. I agree with you. I am dumbfounded at all the people opposed to a system they know nothing about. A system they have personally never experienced. They talk as if national health insurance will only make things worse. I call bull crap. People need to open their eyes and see how beneficial national health insurance is.
  6. I'm glad it's upheld. In time, it will become "national health insurance." People don't realize how great a system "national health insurance" is. They criticize a system that they have no personal experience with. I've met a lot of conservatives in the fives years I have lived in Taiwan. Most of them opposed natioanl health insurance until they realized how the system brings about so many benefits to them and their families. People waste their time complaining about "privacy, federal and state rights, socialism, communism, tyrant, oppression, insert other complaints here". You don't know how good NHI is. I'm enjoying a form of national health insurance here in Taiwan. It's amazing. I pay $100 for my family of three. I paid $10 to get my dental filings replaced not too long ago. When I really need to see a doctor, I pay $3 for the visit and $0 for my prescription. When my wife was in labor, we only paid $300 for her four days and three nights at the hospital. When my son had Kawasaki disease, which affects children of Asian decent more so than other races, we paid nothing for his entire week at the hospital. I can't begin to imagine how much it would have costed me back in the States. The health care system in the US is broke. It's all for profit. Something needs to be done and Obamacare is taking us in the right direction. Finally, the quality of service and care here is top notch. Do I have to wait to see the doctor? Are the waiting times longer than in the States? No. I don't. In fact, many of my appointments have been on the dot.
  7. Agreed. I still remember those days when it was cool to "hate" on Microsoft. How times have changed. haha
  8. I hope Microsoft can get itself together. But as I see it, Microsoft only hopes it can achieve what Apple has so far. Microsoft has yet to use it's OS to make it the most dominate operating system in the tablet and smartphone market. There is nothing wrong with people buying Apple products because they want to be "cool" and part of an "elite" group. It's all part of advertising 101. I understand there are so many Apple haters. I also understand it's also "cool" to hate Apple. So, it's sort of funny.
  9. There is nothing wrong with selling one "great" phone if it's a cash cow. There's no need to for Apple to sell 10 different kinds of smartphones like Samsung, HTC, Sony, etc. There's no need. People are satisfied with the iPhone, If not, they'll buy something else. Apple can't please everyone.
  10. Yea, I'm not an Apple fanboy, but what you are saying is utter b.s. At least provide evidence to back up your proof. Apple is far from a dying company. It's dominating the tablet industry. Apple's iPad share of the tablet market surged to 68% in the first quarter of 2012 from 54.7% in the fourth quarter of 2011 according to the IDC, International Data Corporation. Apple's iPhone is in second place in the smartphone industry. We all know that high profit margins come from the smartphone industry, not the mobile phone one. In addition, we also know that Apple nets higher profits from each phone sold as opposed to Samsung. Apple controls 24.2% behind Samsung's 29.1%. Finally, Apple's earnings in 2011 surpassed $108 billion with a net profit close to $26 billion. That was for the entire year of 2011. If you look at Q1 and Q2 of 2012, you are going to be left speechless. In the first two quarters of 2012, Apple managed to earn $85.53 billion with a net profit of $24.66 billion. In Q3, Apple will surpass what they earned in 2011. Apple has tons of money to spend. They are not dying.
  11. @Stoner and Coors. Agreed. Stoner also knows what he is talking about. The suicide rate at Foxconn is much lower than the national average in China. The suicide rate tends to be much higher in Asian countries: Japan, Taiwan, China, South Korea due to all the pressure they face, especially in school. These kids are in a highly competitive world. From a very young age until they graduate university, they are in school all their lives. I'm not talking about like back in the States where most students are in school from 7 to 4. I'm talking about being in school and then cram school 5 to 7 days a week and from 7AM to 10PM at night. These kids are bombarded with information and drilled on taking standardized tests. All they do is rote-memorization and testing. These are the hallmarks of an Asian education, hence why lots of people commit suicide. I personally know what it's like since I personally see it in my students here in Taiwan. They are exhausted beyond belief. I can't even remember how many times the train has been delayed because a student jumped on the tracks. It's disgusting, but that's the way things are here. It's sad, but no one can change the system except for the people here and quite frankly, most don't want to. @Angel. I used to think just like you, Angel. I used to think that everyone could live in peace. That no one would suffer on this planet. Then I grew up and realize it would never happen. People are a-holes. It's part of human nature. Nothing such thing as utopia.
  12. @Coors, I agree with you. Apple should not be blamed for what happens in those factories. These factories in China are run by Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (Foxconn), a huge Taiwanese electronics manufacturer. Hon Hai doesn't just produce products for Apple. They manufacture products for Dell, HP, Motorola, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft Xbox, Intel, Nokia and a whole lot of other companies. It's easy to blame Apple for the suicides because that is where Hon Hai makes most of its money, but Apple shouldn't be put to blame. Apple and a whole lot of other companies contract Hon Hai to manufacture their products. Obviously, Hon Hai is following Chinese law or else the PRC would have shut them down a long time ago. If Hon Hai is breaking the law, then the PRC is responsible for creating and passing laws to protect its citizens. @Angel. Stop companies from outsourcing jobs to other countries? What? Do you believe in capitalism or communism? You sound like a commie. (I hope you get the sarcasm.) Yea, that's not going to happen, Angel. We don't live in some fantasy world where everything is perfect in the end. This isn't some Disney movie. This is the real world where money talks.
  13. I never had any problems with Windows VIsta. I guess people just didn't know how to use it.
  14. Agreed. Plenty of people get their jobs because they know someone at the company. That's why it's important to network.
