RayMark Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 After looking into the Mecer laptop specified by this threads originator i've discovered a few things of relevance. The laptop is a Sata II motherboard, so there will be a loss of potential read/write speeds if any Sata III drives are installed, which in itself is significant. The only benefit to installing a Sata III SSD would be is reliability issues that have been solved over previous versions. The video ram will be a 2gb loss to the mainboard total memory right off the rip, but you have that covered well with the 16gb upgrade, and you have wisely chosen the 1600mhz version. I have understood that a cpu with the specific "M" designation indicates a lower voltage version to reduce critical heat buildup. IVIYTH0S Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Unless the price is similar with an SATA 3 laptop, you won't see the difference between the two in day to day usage
