PingoPongo Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Looking good.... So is 785G meant to be better than 790FX or where is it's position in the chipset lineup?
Guest ajmatson Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 We will soon see but it is supposed to compete with the 780G (separate class from the 790 series)
Scott P Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 This will be interesting to me as I'm trying to build a mATX machine. It is strange though to say that the 785G chipset has reached a peak when it is so new.
The Smith Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 780G --> 785G --> 790GX --> ? (I'd guess an overclocked 785G in the future, like they did with the 790GX, which is an overclocked 780G.) I got a 100% overclock on mine, bringing it to 1GHz. Fully stable. BTW Pingo the 790FX doesn't have integrated graphics.
PingoPongo Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I know 790FX doesn't have integrated graphics, but anybody buying a mobo with 790FX isn't going to want it anyway So and after 790GX comes 790X?

SenitaL Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 i thought X was the same as a GX but without the intergrated GPU, if thats the case then shouldnt it be: 780G -> 785G -> 790X -> 790GX -> 790FX ?
PingoPongo Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Logically yes thats how it should be, but its 790GX -> 790X. Maybe ajamatson can explain it?
Guest ajmatson Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I forgot where I saw it in AMD's documentation but they stated the 790X was to bridge the gap between the 790GX and the 790FX for users not wanting a integrated GPU but could not afford the 790FX.
