ggg6hfgb Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I decided to get a sound card for my gaming rig and chose the ASUS Xonar Essence STX:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132010. My choices for speakers are:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836852001 & http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121048. Which one will be better for me as I am a gamer but also listen to my music and watch movies. And is it true that the card is better suited for headphones? If so,what card is there for speakers?Phoebus? Waco Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 $200 sound card for 2.1 speakers? I'd save your money, get either one of the sets you linked, and forget spending so much on the sound card until you actually hear the onboard sound on your new rig. I have the feeling you'll be very surprised, in a good way.
ggg6hfgb Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Regarding onboard audio,is the one on the Gene better than the Sabertooth? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131801 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131805
RealNeil Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Waco is right,.....get the Corsair Speakers and try them out with the mainboard's digital sound. It will be quite nice.
ggg6hfgb Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Is the Corsair really worth 100 more than the Logitech?
Black64 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 This is a really strange question. Asking what speakers to get for a sound card is like asking what car to buy for the set of tires you already have.
ggg6hfgb Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 My actual query is that will these speakers bring out the best in the ASUS.
Waco Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 My actual query is that will these speakers bring out the best in the ASUS.The same holds. What electricity is best for your computer?
ohldboy Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 actually: Dayton speakers 6 1/2" woofer ($52 shipped with prime, amazon), Lepai LP-2020A+ ($22 shipped with prime, amazon), Amplifier comes with 2 amp power supply which can be noisy when pushed, or clip. Generic 6amp LCD/LED power supplies are much better. I bought an $8 one (shipped) the amplifier plug is a poor fit, but otherwise fine. There is a $70 combo deal, with an earlier version Lepai possibly. May need to purchase computer Jack to RCA jacks cable. Speakers come with thin speaker wire. GabrielT Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I agree with ohldboy, mostly. I would get the Dayton 652 $39.99 http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-b652-6-1-2-2-way-bookshelf-speaker-pair--300-652 Then I would pair it with Daytons 100watt desk amp $59.99 http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-dta-100a-class-t-digital-mini-amplifier-50-wpc--300-383 Finally I would grab one of Datons powered subs 89.99 to 109.99 if you want the 10" http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-sub-800-8-80-watt-powered-subwoofer--300-627 It will cost the same as the Corsair but it will be so much better.
