SpikeSoprano Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 imo the 290x is not even in the same catagory as the 780 ti, and if a card has that many issues it should not have been for sale to the public, Amd had to get something to compete with the 780 and jumped the gun on this one, selling it before it was ready to market. Totally agree with OCC for not including it on their list of top cards.
Waco Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 The aftermarket 290 and 290X cards are just hitting the market and rock for the cost. The stock cooler is really the only problem with any of them. That and average clock speeds below the rated clock speeds are an issue for me. What rated speeds? I don't recall any base clock being published.. ccokeman Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Rated to run at 1100Mhz on the core and averaging around 780Mhz in quiet mode. The rated speed is not what you get on average with the 290X.

ccokeman Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I thought that was the boost clock? Nope the rated clock speed! Cooling for the most part is the fix anyhow.
