insan3 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 (edited) So i have 2x Kingston KHX1600C9D3/4GX (4gb), from my research it should run at 1600mhz, but for some reason it runs at 1333 and 1.5v. is it okay to turn it up 1600mhz and 1.65v ? ir_cow Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 check cpuz and see what it says under the SPD tab. By default most memory is going to run at the boards lowest speed just because thats what the motherboard does.

Back when ram ran at 1.8v or higher, Intel chips would burn out and AMD was the only one that could handle it. Now you can't find ram that goes above 1.65v if it works on Intel motherboards. Once again, since I don't have the ram I would just check Cpuz SPD and see what the X.M.P profiles are. My guess it supports 1600 the ops board just down clocked it like they all do. insan3 Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) So i tried to up the speed on the ram up to 1600 and 1.65v and it was fine. But when i applied the new ram settings and the overclock my mobo would apply the settings but after I hit f10 to save my settings my pc would act like it loss power for a second but it would continue to reboot but my overclock would be throttle in occt and the ram would be at 1600/1.65v. I double checked my power management settings in the bios. Then I lower the speed back to 1333 and my overclock was stable. any suggestions ? or should i just buy new ram ?
