tazwegion Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 Project: Stocker Part II This is the final installment to my most recent cooling experiment, where we took a stock supplied AMD cooler/fan (with copper slug/insert) and altered @ first the fans, then supplimented different thermal conductives... the previous thread can be found [here] System for testing AMD 2500+ (@stock) Nf7-s version 2.0 Gigabyte 9600XT 128M Corsair XMS 3200 256M DDR x 2 Coolermaster 'Centurion Case' + 450W 80G Seagate Barracuda SATA HDD Case fans Intake - CoolerMaster 80mm SL 12v .12A/1.5w Exhaust - Sunon 80mm SL 37cfm @ 2700rpm 12v 2.3w Y.S. Tech 40 CFM @ 6800rpm Heating things up For the final testing the room ambient was @ 17c (stable), MBM 5.3.3.0 was again used as our measuring software, while readings were taken after 30 mins of running Folding@Home version 4.0. Well here was the original temps (stock AMD issue) While this is the end result of lapping the stocker, applying Artic Silver 5 & mounting the Y.S. Tech's 6800rpm (screamer ) What were the overclocked temps I here you ask? well we are an OC'ing enthusiast site after all... would you believe @ 2.015Ghz the temps didn't flinch a whisker from those @ 1.83Ghz Pro's - Relatively cheap cooling solution - Parts are easily sourced - All experience in culmanitive Con's - It wont look as Uber as your mates Jet 7/sp-97 etc. - 6800rpm's of noise, sounds like a VCR on permanent rewind

TOO MUCH! nice taz and i think we call them ghetto mods over here Ooh I though the definition of a ghetto mod was something I did to a system case with an angle grinder (rough as guts)
