medianOCer Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Stumped on getting this memory to run anything other than CAS 2 long term. I have been unable to get higher FSBs stable with either CAS 2.5 & 3, even with higher voltage. The RAM can only do closer to 200MHz/400DDR at CAS 2. Are this board and memory just purely incompatible for OCing? Tried many BIOSes tricks and etc. Suggestions welcome.
Shinobi Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Hmmm, not that familiar with D5 on these boards. I know its good on A64 & Intel setups. Its a bit like the D43's where you need to run looser timings to gain higher FSB, but its a little better on the latency... Where as you'd be looking at 3-4-4-x with the D43 at 250mhz the D5 should be capable of 2.5,4,4,x. Â So how high can you get exactly? I wouldn't give it too much voltage because the Hynix chips generally don't need it... Â How much Chipset voltage are you using? What Bios? medianOCer Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Current config: Â bios - 6.19.04 official cpu - 2.25GHz @ 1.625v chipset - 250/500 @ 1.7v ram - 250/500 @ 2.7v agp - 66 w/ 128 ap @ 1.6v timings - Aggr 5-3-3-3-3 13-17 4-3-5-3-2-2-4 E-A-F-E Auto ~ Â Unsure if this will hold up... Â So no experts on DT-D5 on the NF2..?
Shinobi Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Hold on, you've got that ram running at 250mhz already!? How much are you expecting to get out of an nForce2? Â Its a strange one how you can't run anything other than Cas2 for long periods of time.... Do you pass memtest & Prime95 fine at those overclocks? red930 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Could we get a screenshot of cpuz /w cpu and memory tabs
medianOCer Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Just started to run these settings a few minutes ago. I have been at 250/500 before but with different timings and the running was rough and didn't hold up. I'll have to put these through the mill before we can write 'em off as good to go. tRAS of 5 on this board with this mem...? I don't get it. Oh well, back later with news as to whether this gives me stability or otherwise.
Shinobi Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 That tRAS is too low imo. I doubt you'll see any benefit from it and it will just contribute to instability. My old Hynix used to run best at a tRAS of about 8. My BH-5 runs best with a tRAS of 11, i get higher benchmark score with it set to that. Â What are you using for your stability testing? Â I think you may probably be using the best bios already for that setup but 2 others that maybe worth trying are Hellfires 3EG Rev3 or one of TicTacs bioses. uncle john Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 I'm using hynix DT-D5. I don't know about the timings at 250MHz but here is what I've achieved with a little extra voltage. Â 200MHz 2-3-3-2-11 @3.1V 233MHz 2-3-3-3-7 @3.2V (I loose cas2 after 233MHz) Â I run 218MHz 2-3-3-3-7 @3.1V for everday use. From what I've found 2.7V won't get you where you want to be timings wise. You need at least 2.9V. Â Hope that helps. -uj
medianOCer Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Thanks for the input U.J. What board are you using the DT-D5s on? Wow, over 3V! How long have you been running 3+V on those sticks? I'll consider upping the V. Â Still messing with the above settings I mentioned, with a tweak/change here and there... Â Best to you, medianOCer

medianOCer Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Hear you Shin, already have 80mm 40+cfm blowing on them right now. Thanks though.
medianOCer Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Anyone have a datasheet(s) on Hynix DT-D5 and/or know where such could be obtained, if possible?
