I'm considering to swap out my 2*512 gskill in favour of 2*1g.

I'm thinking of either:

http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memo...hannel_platinum

or

http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memo...hannel_titanium

My questions are:

1) which one is better (does it make any difference) Could only difference be more voltage & rigourous testing for titanium version?

2) Will those models work properly with my rig. (See sig)

3) Does any of you have live experience with any of these sticks. (with similar hardware as mine)

4) What bios will work best.

5) Do you know a preferred supplier (which ships to Europe)

Since I have my rig finally working stable I'm a bit worried to have troubles with new memory therefore I hope you guys can help me out.....

I can answer number 5...

PC Memory Upgrade http://www.pc-memory-upgrade.co.uk/default.asp will ship to Europe, and they are in Europe (Ireland). Best prices for memory I have seen in Europe, and FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

Hi Angry,

I've been having "only-stable-at-1x-LDT" issues for over a week with my Venice 3000+ (thread here ) with 4x512 @ DDR400, 2T, regardless of other settings (even if CPU not overclocked).

This evening I found that:

1) If I take out two sticks, leaving 2x512, then there are no problems.

2) If I run @ approx DDR333 it seems to work fine, and I can overclock my venice to 260MHz FSB (133 divider to get roughly DDR333 equiv) at LDT 3x. :)

I'm using Geil Value Ram (Manuf. Specs ).

So I guess if cheaper/double sided RAM is used, DDR400 with 4x512 might not work even with a venice.

quite possibly the memory is not being liked by the system at all...i NEVER recommend any memory that is labeled "VALUE"

some can get it to work

most cannot

It does seem to be stable and happy at DDR333 with four sticks, and since it's about half the price of good RAM (here in New Zealand) I can settle for that. I guess the moral is that overclocking with bargain parts isn't very easy.

Is most high quality RAM single sided? All mine is double sided, which I thought might be part of the problem...

  • 3 months later...

This thread is a bit older, but what's the current status on 4 banks and 1T & 2T?

thinking of buying a 2nd set of OCZ 4000 REV2, will i need to switch to 2T as well? an extra 1GB kit is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying one of those 2GB kits.
