Issues with SLI-DR nForce4 SLi?

Recommended Posts

Hey Hey

After the unfortunate events with originally purchasing a DFi Lanparty UT SLI-D nForce4 motherboard it being a D.O.A.

I decided to re-order another dfi board this time I went for the model up the Lanparty SLi-DR nForce 4, tbh quite honest I'm not completely sure what the differences are over all but it was only like £10 more

I thought it best to check whilst I have time if there are any known problems/ issues ppl have discovered with the Dfi Lanparty SLi-DR nForce4 Motherboard?

That may be quite easily fixable, like not detecting this that or the other, and just generally if does have any little querks like this how to over come them?

Thanks!

:D

Boo,

There are a few problems,

1 the board has problems with Corsiar modules, sometimes tweaking the BIOS/flashing to BIOS 510-2FIX can fix the problem, for others it does not help.

Problems are : modules work but not in dual channel or unstable.

Dont be scared by that, you could be ok.

Make sure you plug all 4 power connectors into the board.

- Floppy one

- Hard drive one

DR = Dual RAID, your board will have an extra sata controller (silicon image).

8 sata ports in total.

:)

:eek2: Argggh no don't tell me that!!!

Problems with Corsair modules!

That's exactly the brand of RAM I hav fs! Noooo doh.gif

Corsair is the daddy RAM and Dfi hav problems with it omfg!!!

I've got a twin match set of Corsair XMS3200C2PRO (two 512MB modules)

So that basically means when I assemble it.

It's gonna be a right **** and not work coz it hates corsair.... Great!!!

Yet Corsair website claims that the RAM will work fine i just checked!

Well maybe I can just bang in one module (512) in Dimm 2 then think about flashing the bios and hope the patch fix it.

I am right in thinking the bios update does fix it so some types of corsair ram work as a dual lot? I f*king hope so! lol.

Whats what the deal with the power connectors on the board for floppy disk and hdd???

The board actually powers these devices rather pluggin directly into the hardware if so thats pretty niffty.

On the board where you plug your psu into the 4pin (+12v) just next to the 24pin connector, I have two of these 4pin connectors on my psu (see sig for spec on this item) now it has two 4pin connectors which can u connect together for an 8pin connector but one says P4 and the other says P4+ ... does it make a difference which one I plug into the board does anyone know?

Cheers

Don't sweat it just yet. Look at my sig. Those settings should get you up and running.

Alright then I shall bear that in mind...

These bios updates/ fixes where do i download them direct from dfi?

Ahh brilliant cheers... just one question thoo...

listed in the bios links is 510 something else called 510 Tune-Up

so would i be right in assuming i should flash with 510-2.zip then follow up by flashing with 510-2fix.zip? :cat:

is there a difference do u think or is a mirror thing?

No. Just flash with 510-2fix if that is what you want. When you flash your bios it overwrites the current bios on bios chip

Yeh i get the concept of bios flashing lol ... doh.gif

I just wondered what was the difference between the 510-2fix and the regular 510 bios update was?

Obviously 510-2fix is newer right, which makes corsair ram work hopefully...

Don't know what the fix in 510-2fix is but 510-2 works just fine with my ram.

I'll just roll with the 510-2 patch then  I got same ram as u more or less i think .... *unsure lol

And if the 510-2fix does anything better i can always flash up to it I supose at a later date if its newer.

thanks for the help.
