disgruntled Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Lanparty UT nF3 250Gb - 8/27 bios a64 2800+ Thermalright XP-90 1x MUSHKIN 512 MB 3200C2 display - nvidia fx5900u psu - Super Flower PS-TT-450SS-14CM Liteon DVD writer NFref_637_w2k except had to use older network driver winXp sp2 Howdy folks, Any help would be appreciated. From the first setup, the floppy drive didn't work. I've tried 4 drives and 3 cables. It won't boot from a bootable floppy and won't recognize the floppy drive from a system booted from the CD drive. Windows says the floppy needs to be formatted and then eventually says the disk in drive A cannot be formatted. I turned on the "Boot Up Floppy Seek" in the bios and the heads sound good but nothing. I believe its is irrelevant, but this is the second UT NF3 motherboard. The first one died in a couple of days. No overclocking. XtremeGear, aka buyxg.com, had the returned defective motherboard for 2 weeks. After repeated emails they finally told me that it was backordered and they didn't think the manufacturer made that board anymore. sheesh, BUYERS BEWARE. They did promptly refund my account though. Thanks again.
karl pell Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Try the search button on the bar above. I entered "nf3 floppy" and found a lot of advice.
disgruntled Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Thanks for the reply. I checked these forums, googled the problem and have not found a solution. Your search query gets hits but few apply. I checked again and found one that I missed earlier. Several folks listed the problem but there were no answers. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3021 Thanks again. disgruntled Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Thanks for the reply. It appears that the original poster in that thread gave up and decided to live without a floppy.
karl pell Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 That's true, but along the way were some suggestions of things to try ... have you worked through those suggestions?
disgruntled Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 I've done everything that I can think of. Most of the folks that got the problem resolved merely had to flip the cable or had a defective drive or cable. I wish it was one of those but I've eliminated them. I was hoping someone would tell me that flashing to another bios had helped them, but there are several people in those two threads who don't seem to have found a solution. I have not found any other problems, though. Thanks again for the help.
disgruntled Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Before I let it go, here is my last post in the longer thread in other forum. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3021 I count 7 people posting about inoperable floppy drive connections. These appear not to have the usual simple answers like "flip the cable." Are these just bad boards? ... Thanks for any help. I'm gonna send mine back. seldomsean Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Before I let it go, here is my last post in the longer thread in other forum. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3021 I'm gonna send mine back. Mark me up as #8... I have had 3 LP-UT250's all with the same problem ? My conclusion is .... " It's a DFI thing that noone understands" And now my third one is "Forked" and in no way shape or form is it a "n00b" error... -Sean
