Vista Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 Here is a list of download links to the most oft-used free/shareware/stability/stress/benchmark software for Windows XP. I've personally tried all of these programs but I have no association with any of them and disclaim all responsibility if your results are negative! Shinobi Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 I'd update your link to Prime95 Vista. Thats the link to the old p95v238 "Blend Bug" version. Theres been some newer ones since then with the bug fixed, but they aint listed on the main site. I use version p95v246, where can you download from: http://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v246.zip Theres another version available that i hear can be better for A64's, 2411. You can download that from: http://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v2411.zip http://mersenne.org appears to be down at the moment, so none of the links are currently working... Shinobi Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 ']Here's another nice big list of most commonly used ones and also some that aren't used so much... http://www.benchmarkhq.ru/english.html?/be_cpu.html Yeah good page that Timko, i have it bookmarked Everytime i visit it though i get this damn alert from NOD32... Looks like theres a parasite/trojan in one of the banners on that page I doubt its a false positive, the name of it in the address kind of gives it away, /gp_banners/parasite.js... Couldn't figure out why I wasn't seeing it .. firefox + adblock + a good filter list makes it gone .. heh Here's the one I use .. filter list .. save it as text, install the adblock extension for firefox, import adblock.txt into adblock. This filter set has made browsing enjoyable again
Shinobi Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 Thanks seamuso. I don't use Firefox but IE. Anyway, i just added the address to that particular banner to my restricted sites list and it doesn't popup anymore I do use a blocklist with it already through Spyware Blaster but that musn't have stopped it... I think its probably the fact your using ad/banner blocking that it didn't popup for you. I don't, i only use PopUp Blocking... Btw, are you using NOD32 too? No, but I've used benchmarkhq for a few years now and it seems like one of my antivirus softwares saw something similiar a while back (been more than a year). I checked all the blockable elements with adblock to see what .js extensions were being shown, but it turned out that anthing *banner* was already being filtered with the filter list so it didn't even show on the page. Guest burningrave101 Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 Nice list Vista, we should have a sticky that lists all the best benchmarking and stability testing programs and updated links to their downloads to make like easier on some of us.
