Shinobi Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Anyone else have this weird issue in Windows XP? Sometimes it will display my processor name fine, Mobile Amd Athlon XP, yet other times it will display it as Mobile AMD Athl. Its not a major issue, i was just wondering if anyone knew what causes it?
Poisonsnak Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Huh I was just going to say "mine always says Mobile AMD Athl" but I hit win+pause and it came up with the full name. Perhaps it's related to your clock speed somehow?
Shinobi Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Not sure. Its always like this regardless of what clock speed i've tried, stock or overclocked. Its just completely random. At the moment its displaying correctly but the next time i login to XP Pro it could just display Mobile Amd Athl.
Poisonsnak Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Yeah it's crazy. Which BIOS are you using? I was just thinking, 6/19 was the first to provide good support for mobile cpus, maybe 7/28 or 11/24 fixes this bug.
Shinobi Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 I'm using the 7/28 that came shipped with my board, so it does have support for the Mobile mid-codes. Got a new one here that i don't remember seeing displayed before, Mobile AMD Athlon XP processor, don't usually get the processor bit. I've attached a pic to this post. Poisonsnak Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Mine reads the exact same as your pic, I forgot to read one line down hehe.
charlie22911 Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 i didnt think mobile cpus worked on dfi boards?
Poisonsnak Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Hmm don't know where you heard that, I have had a mobile 2500+ since july or so last year, and it runs 250MHz x 10 at 1.85V. It could probably do 255x10 but my RAM sucks it up.
Shinobi Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Eh? What does that say in your sig Charlie: DFI "NF2 U400 S-AL" NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra400 Chipset Motherboard For AMD AMD Mobile Athlon XP-M 2200+
Angry_Games Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 lol Charlie...mobile cpu in your siggy Mobiles are supported 6/19/2004 officially. Never quite 100% guarantee that they will work since AMD and NVidia and DFI all do not officially support Mobile cpu's on desktop boards (but we know they are popular so we try to make sure they work). if you have a mobile, 6/19 is the best bios for you. Later bios only adds Sempron microcode and 200FSB stability (for true 200FSB cpu's)
charlie22911 Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 lol, i thought the mobile was my prob, thats why i said that... dont worry about the messed up cpu name because my DFI calls it 'Unknown CPU Typ' in XP, despite some instabilitys all is fine.
