Q-Ball Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 I have been having probs with this mobo. It wont seem to save down the bios. It had the problem, but it went away. Only thing I did was switch PC cases. It seems to freeze after I try saving the bios Any suggestions? It was working until today when I tried to intall a floppy drive to flash my X800 Pro to a XT PE
king of nothing Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004  I'm a bit confused by the it was having probs then they went away... but now it has problems again. Anyway.... I'd probably start by trying these-- Unplug the floppy drive and see if it works. Check to make sure the floppy cable is plugged in well. Try a different floppy cable. Check BIOS to see if it identifies the floppy drive properly. Clear CMOS and load optimized defaults. And please make a sig with your specs.... so we can get some idea what we are dealing with. For now.... just worry about the specs for the one you are working on. What is it doing now? Does it post? Can you get to the BIOS? Q-Ball Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 Yes I can get into the bios fine after I clear it. This has happened before. I thought the board was faulty. But than it worked! I was so happy. I was overclocking and was happy! Now its sad again

Then... if you load optimized defaults and save and exit.... it just sits there for a really long time until you eventually press restart. Am I correct? or is it doing something different? And after it sits there forever..... you have to clear CMOS to get it to post. Right? Sorry... I'm just trying to figure out if I understood what you said. Angry_Games Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 just do as the king and the ranger suggest first, and make sure you let us know not saving bios settings usually is a dead cmos battery but you will get a checksum error if its dead
