rookie Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 (edited) I've got a E8400 and DFI LP LT P35 T2R on the way and need to get a good CPU cooler. I'd like to use a new heat pipe direct touch (HDT) coolers like these, but want to confirm they will fit the motherboard before I buy. Anyone have this motherboard and one of these coolers installed? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835202007 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835233003 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835233014 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835233001 Thanks in advance. My_Inner_Fred Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 (edited) You might want to ask the retailer that you bought the motherboard from about the cooler that would fit on your motherboard. Im nott sure but I think the OCZTVEND2 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler should fit fine on your motherboard. razor Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 nice mobo choice depending on your case, all of those coolers should fit - the motherboard shouldnt limit your cooler selection at all. I have a modified Zerotherm Nirvana - took a grinder to the back to make it smooth - and added an add'l 120mm fan on the back for push/pull config. it's also lapped. I approve of the mobo choice as well (not that my opinion matters). The only problem will be the large NB heatsink that is so close to the CPU. I don't see why any of his choices could not be rotated 90 degrees from the "customary" ways if he has a problem mounting it. Sounds like the perfect pretext for a pic of the area in question. rookie Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) I decided to just go with the Vendetta instead of the Vendetta 2. The Xigmatek HDT-S983 looked really good, but doesn't appear to be for sale yet in the US. At least google didn't know of it. Thanks for all the input.
