Xigmatek Hdt-s1283 Rubber Fan Mount Doo-dads?

Can the rubber fan mounts used on the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 be purchased anywhere? I emailed Xigmatek with no response... So I've been asking google about it. Google has been kind enough to show me lots of similar items, but none just like them.

I've tried a couple of different fans on my new cooler and I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up ripping one of the rubber mounts if I uninstall and reinstall these any more. I ordered a few fans and I might end up wanting to change one more time.

I doubt you can buy those... I'd be very careful with the fans, maybe you just need to settle on one fan now :P

I'm having extraordinary problems finding a good balance of cooling and noise in my new case.

I bought a LanCool K7 and the Lian Li fans that came with it are dead silent but don't move much air (I'll just guess they are something close to 15 to 18 cfm). And, somethng about the design of this case amplifies fan noise. I'm completely at a loss. All of my other cases are older Antec/Chieftec/Chenming/Thermaltake stuff with at least 4 80mm fans and a couple of them have a pair of 92mm fans in their doors. Everyone tells me they think my computers are loud, but I never notice them at all.... well, except for a 4 or 5 year old XaserII that still has the orange fans in it. That case can be heard from my driveway.

Well, for my LanCool K7, I put a couple of nice Sunon KD1212PTB3 fans in the front and couldn't stand the noise at all. I was completely surprised by the noise level. It made that old XaserII seem like an HTPC in comparison. So, I put the Lian Li fans back in the front and tried one of the Sunon fans as exhaust... It was still louder than I expected. - I didn't want the Sunon's to go to waste, so I decided to attach one to my cooler. That seems like a great spot for it because it isn't too loud at all sitting in the middle of my case...

But, now I'm surprised that I really didn't get any better performance out of my cooler. That Sunon moves way more air than the Xigmatek fan. I'm guessing the problem must be the larger hub the Sunon has in comparison to the Xigmatek fan... It must be a lower pressure fan. So, I ordered a handful of Scythe fans that I want to try. I have some Slipstreams and some S-Flex fans coming in this week. I ordered a pair of each for 6 different models of fan. My best guess is that I'll probably end up using the pair of 1200 rpm 24db slipstreams in the front and the 1600 RPM 33db slipstream as exhaust, and either the remaining 1600 rpm slipstream or one 1900 rpm 37 db slipstream on my Xigmatek. -

I also have all three models of the S-Flex's on order. Those are the ones with the Sony bearings. The 800 RPM ones are actually intended for another project (cooling a section of my entertainment center). The two faster models might end up in my case depending on their performance. But, if I'm right about the larger hub being the problem with my Sunon on the Xigmatek, I doubt I'll use either of those on it.

So, there is my dilema. I need to try out at least two more fans on my cooler. By the time I'm done spending money on fans, I'm probably going to wish I would have just purchased a better case to begin with. And, if along the way I destroy one of those fan mounts and am forced to buy a second Xigmatek just for the mounts, I'm probably just going to freak out or something ;-)

Small rubber o-rings from any hardware store work great to quiet vibrations and noise for pennies each...but if it is the actual fan noise and case acoustics you are hearing just changing the mounts will not help.

Err yes, but that alone wont help him solve the problem of how to have a fan stay on when the mouts he has DO fall apart. You could however use a few rubber washers and zipties at least to test the fans, then if you dont like the look of that you could use the stock mounts on the final choice.

Im personally planning on getting either one of these (~$37) or the 92mm version ($25 -rebate = $15) for my LAN rig soon. Heck of a lot cheaper than the Ultra 120, with very similar results for the 120MM version makes me not care so much about the somewhat crappy portions of the design :)

just use zip ties... if you want to vibration isolate the fans (I really don't think this is necessary on a heatsink) then you could get some silicone fan gaskets... and still use zipties

AFAIK the only way to mount a fan on this cooler is with the rubber mounts. There are no mounting brackets or anywhere to attach screws, zip ties, O-rings, or anything else like that. I think zip ties would probably damage the fins. The fins have a slot on both sides that runs from top to bottom that accepts the round part of the mounts. The mounts have a split in them to slide over a fin.

Then get yourself some rubber bands and use them to mount your fan to the heatsink. Guaranteed to work with pretty much any heatsink as long as you can get a hold of the right size rubber band.
