Agallion Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Well currently in my truck (2006 f150 stx) everything is still stock. I am thinking about getting a new head unit with an ipod interface. Now as some of you know, i work for best buy, and with it comes the discount. So ill be purchasing every thing there and having it installed by them, because honestly i dont know how. Now most of my music in the car time is done on my semiannual trips to and from Lubbock and Houston (540ish miles). Alot of it is actually podcasts and a bit of music. I do not want to spend alot and need some suggestions on other things i should get for my truck. Sorry but car audio is not my specialty at all . daniel Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 well if you want a low budget system, but at the same time a little quality look for rockford, alpine, pioneer and kicker, i think those might be the best brands for the buck, if u want to spend a lilttle more look for JL parts, although i dont htink they have it at bestbuy. IMO i would recommend a pioneer or alpine headunit, you can find a wide variety of those at best buy. Maybe a Pioneer DEH-P3900M or an Alpine CDE-9870 For the Speakers you need 6x8 i think thats wut the f150 needs not sure though..Which are not available at the bestbuy website...] As for the subwoofer u can get one pioneer which is flat which will help u keep space in your pickup... as for amplifiers, it all depends on what are you getting. daniel Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Well the cheapest speakers you can get for your truck are the pioneer The pioneer TS-A6871R and the pioneer TS-A6881R, the only difference between them is that one is 3 way and the other 4, meaning the 4way can reproduce a larger frame of sounds than the three way. If you get those speakers the amplifier you should get must be able to do 50watt RMS x 4 @ 2 or 4 OHMS, But the amplfier i would get would be a 5 channel in order for it to power your speakers and subwoofer and not need to get another amp for the subwoofer and teh subwoofer i would get would be one of those slim ones, so it doesnt occupy the whole cabin hope that helps
sYstEmATiC Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 well i think one of the best bang for buck headunits that bb has is the pioneer deh-5900IB its 220 reg price. ithas 3 preouts at 4v which is decent voltage for preouts. it has a 7 band eq, and has bluetooth capability (if you get the adapter.) as for speakers, i would stay away from the rockfords that bb carries as every car i have heard them in sound like garbage. alpine makes good coaxials for the money. for the subs, if this is a regular cab, some 10 or 12in apline type E's would sound pretty good in there. if its extended you should be able to get a custom box and throw 2 10 or 12in type S's in it. bestbuy doesnt have the best amp selection but the kenwood KAC-9103D amp should be plenty of power for some type e's or s's without killing the bank.(i have 2 type R's with 2 of those amps.) thats a short list of some of the stuff bb carries thats decent. i wouldnt get your power wire at bb because you can probably get it cheaper elsewhere even after your discount. bb is outrageous when it comes to amp kit prices. i wouldnt get anything smaller than 4ga IF you decide to go with that kenwood or anything similar. Waco Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 My suggestion? Don't get rear speakers. Take the ones in there out and put the money towards a good set of components and a decently powerful amp for them.

ccokeman Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 We got last years version of the head unit for my sons car. We also got a set of 5x7 type s and type r speakers for it. The thing that really made the whole package was the 10" alpine sub and amp kit that you guys sell every so often. After replacing the the stock speakers with the alpines the difference was amazing.
