hardnrg Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 there are two types of cable: patch cable (all cables straight through) and a crossover cable (some cables are fed to different pins on the other end)... you need a crossover cable... you can *look* at the RJ-45 jacks to determine the type of cable... if it's a patch cable, the wire colour order is identical on both ends... if they are different it's a crossover... you can convert a patch to a crossover with an RJ-45 crossover adaptor... once you have a crossover cable connected between the two PCs you can set up a simple network between the two... it might be a bit of a pain trying to get a Steam game working (or any game that requires internet connectivity) unless you have a USB cable modem or TWO ethernet ports in one of the pcs... in the latter case you can use a secondary LAN port on one of the pcs to share the internet to the second with the crossover cable... the pcs will be on a LAN also (192.168.0.x) which should make any game possible GL HF Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
