Silverfox Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 my guess is that the lapping wasn't perfectly flat. either that, or the software reading the temps is not perfect - what are you using for the temp readings?
woppy101 Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 core temp and i used a mirror to lap on
Silverfox Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 ok cool, that still sounds odd. what grade paper were you using? and i trust it was wet&dry paper? i'm no lapping expert, but these are the common problems. so long as you slowly went from one grade to the next, you should be fine... Â do these temperatures match what the BIOS reads? i know the bios is a bit inaccurate, but it might be interesting. otherwise, i would suggest trying some other software too unless you have a temp. probe
Andrewr05 Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Was this your first time lapping? Â I would suggest doing test "laps" on old heatsinks before immediately lapping a CPU if it was...
Verran Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 what grade paper were you using? and i trust it was wet&dry paper? You should have finished off with 1600-2000ish paper. If you didn't go that far, you may have made it worse.
