Ok, just got a new system. specs are :

Conroe e6600

OCZ Gold XTX 2GB

XFX 8800GTX

Gigabyte DQ6

3x WD 320GB

1x 74GB Raptor

Problem is, i've installed Windows XP Home, 3 times now trying to get my mouse working. I've tried a PS2 mouse, and a USB mouse. All do not work. It gets recognized but says that the hardware malfunctioned.

First i thought it was something to do with USB, as it said something about looking for usbehic.sys but my Logitech G15 works fine on it....

I really have NO IDEA wat is wrong....and i wanna play on this machine!!! =(

Is the XP OS a legit copy? Reason why I ask is because I've done some searching using google and some had reported that they got that error using a bogus copy of XP. Another resource you may want to look into is in microsofts' web-site. Try this; http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...B;EN-US;Q329632 to start you off. If that isn't enough, just google more and read up. There are vast amounts of info regarding that issue you have. Good luck!

*EDIT* Based on this http://www.osronline.com/ddkx/buses/usbsystem_3rjb.htm It's a USB 2 driver that didn't ship with the original Windows XP disc. It only became available when SP1 came out. I suggest slipstreaming Service Pack 2 with your Windows XP disc, then reinstall Windows. If you can try disabling you USB in the BIOS?
