ClayMeow Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 i'm really confused by your description of your setup, can you give a little dialog? What it SHOULD be is: cable modem | | V wireless router | |->computer via wi-fi | |->computer via lan port | |->computer via lan port | |->computer via lan port In other words, the cable modem should be going into the router, not into a computer. (you can set up a computer to be a router, but that gets messy).

ClayMeow Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 So what's that second router for? Is that what you want to put in your room? If so, that's okay...you can daisy-chain routers, though under normal circumstances using a switch would be easier.

If you're going to go that route, you'll need to setup internet connection sharing on the computer with the wireless NIC. And when you plug it into the switch-ified router in your room, use a LAN port (not WLAN).
