This is in a way good because it will play into republicans' hands. George W. Bush is indeed known more for his global policies rather than his national ones.

well the last thing we need is GWB jumping the gun and starting WW3

This won't start WW3. Although we really don't have many troops in the US. North Korea doesn't seem to show signs of trying to take anything over. Unfortunently, if they tried, they would probably succeed for a while.

Although now they do have the capability of a nuclear weapon. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions.

I think the entire U.S. is over reacting...

You know dang well we have nukes, so why cant they?

Typical "The United States and allies must be the only people to have new technology" mind set...

Now I could see if they directly threatened us with those nukes, but just having them isnt a big deal!

The U.S. has enough nukes to wipe out any continent it wishes, and people still get "huffy" about a certain country testing a few here and there?

Because we won't just USE them out of no where. Sure we have them, we also won't sell the technology. Who knows if North Korea would sell some technology to Iran. That's the point. And we aren't overreacting. If the US was, they would have already launched something back at them.

I was actually coming into this thread planning on (sarcastically) saying exactly what he said... but then I read his post and chuckled to myself. How does one logically argue with this comment? That fact that it was even said shows lack of knowledge of how North Korea, or any other dictatorial regime, operates.

Kim Jiang Il has said repeatedly that he is creating them to use specifically against the US of A. I know these threats can be translated many different ways. Perhaps he means he is going to use them against Uganda, Somalia, and Angola? I don't know. This is just my closed-minded conservative side talking here, but I will take his threats at face value and assume he means the United States of America, what with him declaring us his life-long enemy and all.

"we have nukes! Why can't they!?"

We have a vast government bureaucracy with a system of checks and balances, as well as national laws that prohibit us from using our nuclear weapons on a whim. North Korea has NONE of that. Sleep well at night knowing that Kim Jiang Il can get drunk at a party and decide he wants to press the red button just for giggles. :thumbs-up:

You also have to understand the mentality of North Korea. Their kids are, from birth, taught to HATE the west, particularly America. They are being told in school that the reason they are starving is because the US Navy is sinking the ships that are trying to import their rice. Rather, they are starving because Kim Jiang Il is a tyrannical communist dictator who has run his country's agricultural industry into the dirt (pun intended), and he can't get anymore food because half the free world is holding sanctions against N Korea for its aggressive nuclear tactics. When the kids' parents suddenly disappear, Kim Jiang Il tells them it's because the US sent special ops into the country and took them away, when in reality Kim Jiang's death squads dragged their parents away and tortured them to death for political dissent.

"LOarmisteeed, how can N Korea's people be so dum!?1 Dont tehy hav CNN LOL!!"

No. They do not. In fact, the only TV they get to watch is the anti-western political cartoons fabricated by the NoKo government.

"How do yew know this is troo loarmisteeeed!?/ Is it something the Bush administration told you!?1? OR did you sea it on foxnews!11"

A little birdy told me.

I believe this is not a good thing. But I don't believe George W. will have to do anything. I think S. Korea and Japan will handle this one. They both seem pretty worried.

And contrary to un-popular belief, Rightfully So!!

Not to mention we've had 50,000 troops on the Noko-Soko DMZ for the past 50 years. All's well... for now :D

Last I heard they were actually taking troops out (now that this has happened I'm sure they are either A:) not leaving or B:) staying).

OK good point...

I know how bad N.K. is, I was just implying that most people overreact to certain circumstances.

I wasnt implying that its a good thing that they have and are using nuclear weapons!!

Because it most certainly isnt...

Although I still think most of the gvornment officials are trying to oppress the world and not let them experiment (except in north koreaic sittuations)

*commits suicide*

*andrews alter-ego steps from the shadows*

PLAN B!!!!

Communist sons of .!!!!

Seriously though when do you think we will be over there? (not if, when)
