CheeseMan42 Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Going to be building a new computer before I go back to college. A64 and PCI-x, probaby 2gig memory. BUt, on to the video card. Im looking to spend around $400 on it. What is the best bang for the buck?

Puck Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 hmm i dont know, i'm canadian. 605537[/snapback] ^ Sorry, thought that was hilarious. That 7800gtx cooler looks like it will hold in heat, not to mention make it harder to cool the card in general(voltage regulators, mem, cooler, etc) with direct airflow from case fans and such. BTSchnarfy Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 I think that all depends on what chipset your mobo will have. A 7800GT will play nicer with an nVidia chipset, and an 1800XL will be better with an ATI chipset. Both cards are ~$300 (the ATI is just a little more), but will play pretty much anything ya got.
