well heres the sittuation i am in now:

i got 8 folding pc's

1 comcast router that only allows 4 connections

1 24 port "switch"

5-ish 10\100 pci nics

so hears what i gota do:

get all the pcs folding under ONE ip addres(so family can have their 3).

i have tryed conecting my compy to the router and the switch and bridging the connections but that dident help at all.

when i connect the switch to the router i the router sees the multiple MAC addreses but cant tell the names of the compys.

thats all that i have observed

so anyone willing to tackle my network issues?

thx for any help

wouldnt having all the rigs connect to the router (and switch to router also) count as all being under 1 ip address? could be a network protocal problem which might explain the lack of the names of the rigs showing up on the router.

well.. if your under a normal range... set static IP's..

so.. for a computer on a switch.. use

ip address of 192.168.1.123

subnett mask 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway 192.168.1.1

DNS Server 192.168.1.1

now.. you will have to change the last number of the IP address "123" to anything that ranges in 1-254.. but dont overlap..
