I'm sure there's a lot of if/but/then's, but if you're just comparing one proc to another, the Venice is two generations ahead of the newcastle. I supports SSE3 and Dual Channel RAM, while the Newcastle does not. Plus, as a generality, the 90nm chips seem to OC better (at least that's what people report).
