Magicky Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 (edited) this will be easy as I wondered the same thing about b4 and after temps. Started off with stock cooler and speeds on my eVGA 6800 GT, then bought an eVGA all Cu heatsink for it but kept the stock fan and overclocked it to 410/1.112. Then got the Zalman VF 700 Cu cooler and replaced the crappy memory chip heatsinks and overclocked it to 417/1.120. Briefly, here's the results: 1) All stock fan/speeds. Idle = 54 C/ load 70 C. 2. Cu heatsink/stock fan/oc'ed = idle 50-51 C/ load 66/70C. 3) Zalmans idle 42-44C, load 58-60 C. For testing purposes I play Doom3 on High setting with AAx2 AF x 8 for an hour or so, and monitor temps with Riva Tuners' monitor program. I know this isn't a rigidly controled expeirment, but it is real world, for me. The vid card runs stable as hell so I'm happy with it. I would have bought a V1 but the dang things were not for sale yet. Magicky Edited August 25, 2005 by Magicky
S][R_KILL@LOT Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 So the silencer seems like a better buy, right? whats cheaper of them two?
gravy Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 I didn't read the text...but it looks like there isn't enough room for ram sinks with that thing... I have the VF700, stock speeds.... 54 before 46 after 534373[/snapback] yeah, the review sample he got was a first run, they didn't come with memory sinks, but if you check out the 6800gt installation instructions on Thermalright's site, it clearly shows them and how to attach them and there is room that had me worried too, i wasn't gonna buy it because of that, but it does come with memory sinks now So the silencer seems like a better buy, right? whats cheaper of them two? you asked whats better, not cheaper, cheaper means not as good in this case
