bc-17 Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 I have an old GeForce3 TI-500 (64mb) and I'm planning on using it in another computer such as a test station or a file server. So do you think cooling the video RAM would be as important? I think if I slap my Iceberq4 vgpu cooler on it would be just fine..tell me otherwise. the DrewiD Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 did it have coolers on the ram to start with? and if your going to overclock it, then i would say yes.if not then no.
NoNothing Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 there is no reason to cool ram on non OCed vid cards that are older, i can see putting it on a 9800 or above at stock speeds, but your card, it wont do much...
bc-17 Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 ok ty.. Originally, yes it had heatsinks on the RAM and vgpu mainly because the GeForce cards are generally used for gaming and whatnot. So, yea I guess I could get away with leaving them off for a non-gaming station.
