SoyoJoe Posted January 19, 2003 Posted January 19, 2003 I have a new 80gb 8mb cache maxtor and a 40gb ibm deskstar thats over 2 years old, how should i have my system set up on these. should i put windows on one and games, videos and music on another? or is not worth using the ibm drive except for a back up? DimensioN Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 well, i would use the 80 for windowns, games, programs,. . . the stuff at the ibm, so if the ibm is full, you'll still have lots of room at the 80 greetz
Ronin Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 I have a 60 and a 30. I partitioned the 60 into a 10 and a 50. I loaded my OS onto my 10, use my 30 for apps, games ect and my 50 for media, movies, tvshows, mp3's ect. I like this the best because if somthing happens to wipe out your OS chances are no other drive will be affected and so you keep your media and apps, load up another OS and all is good again. SoyoJoe Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Yah, i was thinking of putting my os on the 40 and all my games and mp3s and vidoes on the 80. Do u think windows will be slower on the 40 compared to the 80.

ukmike02 Posted January 23, 2003 Posted January 23, 2003 If you are going to put apps on one and windowz on the other. Use seperate IDE Channels as the data flow will improve and so will your speed
