Wamphyri Posted January 10, 2003 Posted January 10, 2003 Im really confused. Since ive built my new system. I have been thru 3 CPU coolers. Ive used the stock one that came with it. I bought a cheapo Coolermaster heatsink. And I just recently got a Coolermaster HHC-001 heatsink. With all these difrent coolers on my XP 2000+ I get 50 celcius temps on idle with no programs like Cooler XP running. I just dont understand why I cant get my temps. down. This time I even bought Artic Silver 3 instead of using the cheapo stuff. I do realize that this is well within AMDs operating temps for my CPU. I barely put any thermal compund on the CPU I could just about see thru it. I installed the cooler properly the higher part is at the top. I should have good airflow thru case I have 2 80mm fans in front blowing in 1 80 mm at side blowing out and one 60mm fan in back blowing out. I also just bought a Enlight 420 watt PSU that has 2 fans in it as well which solved my random reboot and voltage problems. Does anyone have any ideas as to why my temps are so high when I see people with the same CPU and cooler in the 30s? Like I said I do realize that my temps. are not out of spec and my system is stable Im just a little confused why with 3 coolers I really havent changed temps. T-shirt Posted January 10, 2003 Posted January 10, 2003 What MB/chipset? some still have problems reporting the temps correctly.

ATI Radeon 8500 Posted January 10, 2003 Posted January 10, 2003 If you're very temperature concious you may want to go with water cooling. You may want to fully remove then reapply arctic silver with a credit card in a thin layer. I'm also not sure how good your cooler is as Coolermasters aren't always the best for cooling. If you want air cooling ThermalTake is a decent solution, but Swiftec hand ThermalRight offer very good high end cooling solutions. smeghead009 Posted January 10, 2003 Posted January 10, 2003 i hate MBM one minute my temps are like 76 and then it jump to 180 and my alarm goes off, it might just not be compatable with my mobo. you could try getting a thermal probe to see what your real temps are http://store.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozenc...enu_search.html
isaac_calvo Posted January 11, 2003 Posted January 11, 2003 Hmm if you are not sure I recomend getting a Vantec Nexus Multi-function panel. I have one and it works great it allows me to control the cpu fan it tells me the temp of my CPU, HDD. CASE. and as a plus is has 2 usb 2.0 and a 1394 Firewire port. I had problems with my mobo saying I was getting 55 celcius with a Zalam copper cooler I think the same you have. with the stock fan I would get around 64 celcius. Of course my case has only one intake fan and 2 exhaust fan so I cant complain about my temp, but after I isntralled it I notice a more specific tempeture and it was around 45 celcius iddle This Panel cost around 30.00 dollars meaby cheaper if you search for it in yahoo. welll I hope that helps. Wamphyri Posted January 11, 2003 Posted January 11, 2003 Cool thanks for the quick replies. I think I will get a temp. probe since they are more accurate.
