avalanche165 Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 my bros got an nvidia 6800 gt, and he says he got it over the ati because of rendering. "for future games the nvidia will be better with their 2d rendering support that ati does not have." is this true? google, nvidia, and ati.com are not helping so far. jkdmaster Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 The only thing i can think of is that Nvidia 6800s support Pixel Shader 3.0. Ati only supports 2.0, games in the near future will have PS3.0, it is just more detail.
GregP24 Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Except that the 6800s can't render SM3.0 in playable FPS. That is, when SM3.0 is being used for grahpical improvements. The only reason to buy a 6800 over an X800 is if you play at lower res - below 1280x960. They are faster down there. Above 1280x960 with AA/AF the X800s pull ahead. By alot. ThunderChicken Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 ya the reason why i got a 6800ultra is cause, im a nvidia fan but mainly because of money because at that time i didnt want a x800pro and try and get it to xtpe just didnt wanna take that risk, and because my monitors only does 1280x1024 either one is a good card but ati does do better like in 1600x1200
