ThunderChicken Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Ya ive gotten into encoding and decoding so looking to switch over to intel*first time intel person* and i know i want a gigabyte board prob the duo-a or something in the gigabyte boards for socket T but was wondering what the gear slot, isnt it for agp cards? if so how do i know if my vid card is compatible? also i wont be overclocking it so i dont care about overclocking potential. Eva_Unit_0 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Yeah, the G.E.A.R slot is basically an AGP slot that rides the pci bus. It's great for backwards compatability, but it does reduce the video card performance by quite a bit. As long as you won't be relying heavily on the gpu performance, it works fine.
