bigred Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 wow, that is a weird one. I have never seen it. best bet would be to check with your mobo maker. also it's been proven that the 1mb L2 is less effective than the extra 200mhz and half the cache. I would just get a regular 3000+ or even a 3200+ for the money there.

oralpain Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 (edited) There are 1meg L2 A64s (clawhammers) down to 2800+ if you consider the mobiles. The DTRs should work ok in the MSI, but I have heard of trouble with that board and the true or low-power mobiles. Apparently the voltage adjustment on the MSI K8N neo is based on a percentage of the stock voltage reported to it by the CPU. That could result in a very low max voltage for the lower power mobiles, as they default to 0.9v on the boards I have tried my mobile 2800+ newcastle in. Even though they are offically 1.2v stock, they arent recognized correctly by most destop BIOSes and default to 800Mhz, 0.9v). I'm not exactly sure what voltage the clawhammer mobiles would default to. They are supposed to be 1.4v stock, but I'm not sure what the baord would recogonize it as. I've never had one.
