Best Ftp Server

Ok, its not 100% finished, but it'll do.........My FTP's going up soon! Anyone here ever run FTP's? And if so........can you tell me what client you think it the best. I'm using Win98 @ the moment, so security is a consern . All of the files I am serving are on a seperate drive (if that helps, which I doubt it does).

 

If everythings going smooth after a week or so of testing, that's when I'll start serving to da public.............

 

I'm not gonna be all wack and put in a ratio. Please, hook a buger up and upload some things every now and then thought

I would put the ftp server on another computer.

im with posey.. if u have another machine.. I wouldent put the ftp on ur primary machine just because of security reasons.. + it wont bog u down ever..

BulletProof seems to be a good client, I'll probably stick w/ that. I currently don't have another computer, but I got the parts . Sometime soon I'll put together a serving machine.

I recommend:

 

ProFTPD for *nix based systems

Serv-U for windows based systems

 

 

I have used both of these for a very long time, and they both are very stable and have lots of configuration options.

Ive had experance with serv u as well.. vers.. 2 I havent used 3 yet..

see i am kind of confused.. u're talking about ftp server and then asking about ftp client.

 

For me, the ftp client is the software you use to connect to a ftp server, so here's what i use:

 

for client: LeapFTP(www.leapware.com)

for server: Serv-U is good indeed.

I agree with you.

 

I have used LeapFTP (for windows) as long as I can remember. It's an awesome, fast, lightweight ftp client.

Sounds like great advice. I'll definatly give Serv-U a shot. BulletProof works fine, but it's pretty basic.
