Some system info might help here is this an off the shelf comp.?

Have you added anything latly (any new programs)?

Have you gone to device mgr to see if you have conflicts?

Are you using power management?

This an upgrade or full version XP? (clean install)?

Are you using fast user switching?

Have you gotten the new service pack?

If it is a Warez copy could be just about anything? Can't help you there

If you have to upgrade then do it from 98 not ME

I would obtain a legal copy which is Bootable from CD, Good luck
