ASUS GeForce 980 Strix shows very high power usage when playing Elite Dangerous

Recommended Posts

While I play Elite Dangerous Odyssey I was getting freeze ups.

I lowered the game details but the video card still shows "Very High" power usage in Task Manager.

Upload of pic failed. Will reduce the size and see if it works. Didn't work.

Error Code 200 (Hopefully some body can help).

ASUS i72490K,  Asus Z97 Pro-Gamer,  16GB ram/ 546.29 GPU driver. I tried to update driver but the message said "Data Invalid" tried a few times with same result.

Have you tried uninstalling your old drivers before updating?

Yes. I followed written advice from ASUS.

I had 516 driver but when I tried to return to it it also said Invalid Data. So lucky I had downloaded 549

Hello Bosco and others. Win 10 has been good to me.

Error code 200 comes on when I try to post a pic of ROG GPU tweak 2

Can anybody tell me what is happening here please? Don't worry. It worked.

This is what I see. Now the question becomes: Can I do anything to have some leeway in my video card?

Is this the only game it does this on?

This is Borderlands 3 which I don't play, due to severe vertigo, so i loaded it and ran it for a while.

Seems that a modern game wants to use maximum power.

Yet, the gameplay seems fine. I just don't understand what is happening with my rig.

Just asked my son, he is playing Dragon Quest 2 builders (something)

He has a 1080i and he gets high and very high in task manager.

Something to live with I suppose.

Thanks for listening.
