Rancho Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 I have bought the ASUS 7970 directcu II. However, from what I can tell the voltage is locked I have read the OOC review here http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/asus_hd7970_direct_cu_ii/4.htm, and whomever did the review could select up to 1.3V. However, my maximum is 1180mV, with the default at 1175mV. And that won't even matter, because the card will run at 1.17V as per HWiNFO64. How come I can't get the voltage going like in the review? Another annoyance. It seems if I want to use 2 monitors, the state 3 clocks, 300/150 are no longer applied, instead I'm getting idle clocks of 500/1325 (or whatever the memory clock is). If I disconect one monitor, I will get 300/150 clocks if I idle or watch a low quality movie.
feetfats Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 (edited) I used to have this card. I remember using an old outdated version of after burner or maybe the Asus tuning program to get the voltage to unlock. Newer versions wouldn't work. It was a big hassle. Braegnok Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 (edited) If you have Asus HD7970 DC2 3GD5. Rev. 1.00x card you can flash VGABIOS from MATRIX-R9280X-P-3GD5 card to unlock voltage control. https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/149810/asus-r9280x-3072-130827-3 Edited October 15, 2020 by Braegnok
