Psywar Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 I was wondering if anyone had some DDR3 RAM laying around they are not using? My machine is getting old but still does what I need it to do. I am just in need of upgrading my ram from 16GB to 32GB to run some VM's and what not. 24GB would actually work as well. I was looking at Newegg and I just cannot bring myself to pay what they are asking for this older RAM.
ir_cow Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 I actually bought the memory from this seller. Had 4 sets. I bought one. Works well if you need 16GB of 2133 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Patriot-Viper-3-16GB-2x-8GB-240-Pin-DDR3-2133-PC3-17000-Desktop-Memory/283436672361?hash=item41fe246569:g:-yYAAOSwSjpcoSTK&frcectupt=true

Maybe I will just grab another 16GB of memory and just run it with my current 16. I was wanting to get 32GB of the same brand, but at this point, I don't think it really matters. I should figure out the voltage on my current ram to make sure I don't run into any issues there anyways.
AkakmanH Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Be sure to remember that when using 2 different sets of memory that you need to use the correct slots In general, on most motherboards the arrangement is 2-1-2-1 meaning set 1 and 2
