DrDigitized2 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 (edited) I just got back into folding and upgraded the software. I used to not be able to use my GPU and could never figure it out. Now with the new software it was really easy to add my GPU to it. However when I set the settings to Full load the CPU kept constant but GPU would go from 0 to 100 back to 0 in surges. When I lowered the settings to Medium it fixed the GPU and it now runs at 100% but the CPU's are running at a slightly lower setting. Is it a F@H stability issue or a GPU not quite overclocked right? I have been running this GPU with its current setting since I got it and I haven't had any problems. I uploaded the sensor log for my GPU. DrDigitized2 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 It would not let me upload the file. So now I have uploaded a pic using paint lol.
ccokeman Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 I have not folded in a while but usually one core on the CPU has to be dedicated to run the GPU.
paulktreg Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 I've recently tried to get back into folding but so far Folding Control Client Control 7.4.4 as stopped working twice resulting in a wipe and reinstall. Third time lucky?
Braegnok Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 (edited) DrD,.. The GPU surging back and forth from 0 to 100 % is common on some WU's during folding,.. and CPU usage while folding on GPU depends on type WU your GPU is assigned, some of the newer 0x21 WU's run vary hot and use apx. 25% CPU usage during folding, and most of the older 0x17 WU's run less information so they run cool and only use apx. 7% CPU. You can try removing CPU client and only running GPU client set on Full for a few days and see how it goes.
