CheeseMan42 Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Back in May Google revealed that its self-driving car program had been involved in 11 traffic accidents, none of which were the fault of the self-driving car, and luckily no injuries occurred in any of them. That has now changed with the first accident leading to injury reported, though once again the Google car was not at fault. Three Google employees were in the car during the test drive and "complained of minor whiplash, were checked out at a hospital and cleared to go back to work following the July 1 collision." The driver that rear ended the car also complained of minor neck pain. Head of the self-driving program Chris Urmson commented on the issue stating, "his SUVs 'are being hit surprisingly often' by distracted drivers, perhaps people looking at their phones." bp9801 Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Humans on the road hitting the self-driving cars is not surprising, especially if the people who've hit the cars are distracted.
