VolcomPimp Posted August 10, 2002 Posted August 10, 2002 Well when I first saw the beta of winamp 3 I hated it, and havent gone back since... I didn't just hate it, I thought it royally sucked... Is it any good at all or has it changed from the beta??? d3bruts1d Posted August 10, 2002 Posted August 10, 2002 I used WinAmp 3 during beta and didn't use it that often, because of the many bugs... The final version I like. Not much different than the old 2.80. You now have "thinger" which allows you to quickly show/hide the differnt tems (playlist, browser, thinger, etc.). You also have a new video window, that can be hidden at will via the thinger. The options menu is a little cleaner, but almost identical to the old options menu. As far as slowing your computer down, I haven't noticed any slow down whatso ever. However, typically, anything you have running in the background will eat up resources.... There is an option labeled "Alpha settings" and if you look at it, it states that "Desktop alpha settings require high-end hardware and may cause CPU useage to dramatically increase." You may want to make sure that is disabled. Also new with WA3, is the transparency ability. And the new skinz. It comes with the 2.x skin, and a modified 2.x skin... it also has the ability now to be skined like Windows Media Player which is pretty cool, in that you are now able to change the location of everything. I just thought it was stupid and a little AOLish in a sense (corrupted that is)... Bah just makes me mad that AOL baught Nullsoft back a few years ago or whenever it was... when I heard I wanted 2 kill someone...
